Quick Thought: After giving blood today, I bumped into two ruffians from the Amnesty International cause. I signed up and will be supporting them on this blog. You’ll see a neat little yellow sticker-button go up, and a relevant explanation in a longer post is eminent, along with a poem entitled: “Ode to a Candle: for Amnesty International”
I support Amnesty International’s fight for freedom of expression. And although I don’t “wax political” on this blog, I might have to remind my readership that some things are worth fighting for, and freedom of expression is of the utmost importance to all creative artists, myself included.
It reminds me of a quote from a poem I wrote, which I’ve begun to explain in a critical literary essay that I’m working on:
“All art is art without form and void, like the sea;
We are the ones who give it shape, and form”
-from “You Nymph of my Memories” by: Stephen M. Miniotis.
I will be posting an “Ode to a Candle: for Amnesty International” over the next coming weeks. It is based off of an older, different poem which I wrote, called “The Candle”.
I think that creating art to support freedom of expression is the highest gratitude one can give to a cause which is pure of heart. Please support Amnesty International, too.
